LAX Terminal 2 to Tom Bradley: allow 38 minutes
Tom Bradley is 2 terminals from Terminal 2 along the LAX horseshoe. Allow 38 minutes gate to gate: 30 minutes of post-security walking at the 10–15 minutes per terminal the airport publishes, plus 8 minutes to reach your gate at the far end. You stay inside security the whole way, so there is no second TSA queue.

| Walk to and from the connector | 8 | Our allowance — the airport does not publish this |

Border formalities and your airline’s gate cutoff are not in that total, because they belong to an itinerary rather than to a walk. The calculator below adds them for your actual connection.

Is your layover long enough?
Already set to 2 terminals apart. Add your layover, whether you are arriving from abroad, and how late the inbound is running.
Short by 3 minutes
You have 50 minutes after the delay. This connection needs about 53. Assume you will not make it, and read what your airline owes you below.

Arithmetic, not a prediction — we hold no data that would let us put a probability on your flight, so we do not pretend to. The gate cutoff is a typical published figure; confirm your airline’s. Your airline’s app knows your actual gates, which we do not.
If the walk is longer than your layover
Missing a connection on a single ticket is the airline’s problem to solve, not yours to rebook and pay for. What it owes you depends on why the inbound was late and which jurisdiction the ticket falls under, and the LAX guide sets out what the carriers commit to in their own published plans.
What else is true of connecting at LAX
- LAX publishes 10 to 15 minutes to walk between each terminal, and roughly two miles from Terminal 1 to Terminal 8. That is per pair of neighbours, not end to end, so a connection across the horseshoe costs several times the headline figure — which is why this page asks how many terminals apart your gates are.
- Every terminal has been connected post-security since the Terminal 3 to Tom Bradley connector opened in 2023. A terminal change at LAX no longer means a bus or a second security queue, which is the single biggest change to connecting here in decades.
- The people mover, SkyLink, is not carrying passengers. It started running empty in April 2026 and the posted date has slipped repeatedly, most recently to October 2026. Nothing on this page assumes it, so nothing here breaks when it slips again.
- The trap for Mexico and Latin America: Volaris, Viva Aerobus, Aeroméxico and several others do not depart from where you check in. Viva Aerobus and Volaris passengers check in at Terminal 1 but are bused to the Tom Bradley West Gates, and American, Delta and United international arrivals come into Terminal B rather than their own terminal. Confirm your actual departure gate before trusting any terminal-to-terminal figure, here or anywhere.

Airline phone queues and chatbots are where a rebooking stalls. Our agents work these routes daily and will look at what is actually available, walk through the letter you are about to send, and tell you what a desk agent will and will not do.
